SINGAPORE - It may only be February, but Penang's Faiz Subri has wasted no time in throwing down an early contender for the Fifa Puskas award. The accolade is given to the player who is deemed to have scored best goal of the year.
The 28-year-old attacker scored a cracking free-kick for his team in a 4-1 win over Pahang in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) on Tuesday (Feb 16), a goal which has since been picked up by the international press, including news outlets in the United States, Britain and Australia.
Standing over the ball some 32m out, and with a crowd of players gathered in the penalty area, most would expect him to whip the ball into the area for someone to attack.
